My father was transferred to Bakersfield the summer of my Sophomore year. That was really tough for my sister Laurie and I. We had gone to school with many of you since kindergarten. Here we were traveling down into the San Joaquin Valley to some hick town we had never heard of...Bakersfield. Imagine our shock when we saw signs telling the names of the smaller towns around the area... Buttonwillow... Weedpatch... and the worst... Pumpkin Center! We sobbed all the way to our new home.

I grew to love this town... except for the gosh-awful summers! After graduation I met the love of my life, Jim Stockman. We were engaged for 3 years then married in 1979. During that time I received my cosmetology license...did hair for a short time until I had my first child, Jason, now 23.

After many years of baby envy and not conceiving we finally gave up our dream of having more children. Until...I attended a Christian Woman's conference where a group of women prayed for my infertility. A miracle happened and our son Sean (now 14) was conceived within a few days. And if that was not miracle enough our 13 year old daughter, Annie, was born 10 1/2 months later. I've home schooled Sean and Annie for a few years...just for Jr. High... and Sean will be attending public high school in the fall.

Annie the Princess

I've always been room mom...on many school PTA committees and have hosted many fund raising events for my children's school. It's been really cool for the last few years to be focused in on my kids rather than be in a whirlwind of constant activity.

God has blessed me with various talents with which I've managed to supplement our income. In the 80's I maintained a decorative stenciling business which developed into decorative painting... specializing in children's rooms. The last few years I've used my sewing abilities to craft custom handbags, which has been very successful for me. I've always enjoyed floral arrangement and this year have begun decorating for weddings. My other interest is working on the computer with Print Artist and keeping in touch with family and friends.

I'm looking forward to reacquainting myself with you all at the end of the month. I've also enjoyed cruising the website and viewing all the pictures and profiles of the Class of 74. The organizers of the reunion have done a topnotch job of pulling us all together. Thanks so much for your efforts!
